1957 Matchless GL

This bike belongs to Gary Pinchin, editor of Classic Bike magazine. He’d bought it without a charging system and because he only rides it in daytime was happy to leave it that way. Instead, the bike runs a total loss electrical system.

Gary wanted to add LED indicators, and entirely new Emgo electrical switches. We decided to let the switch cable colours dictate the loom colours, and hid the flasher unit and ignition switch inside the tool box. The original bike didn’t have either of these.

The result is an almost invisible loom on a British bike.
