Rupe Farnsworth’s short track racer

This is a long term project which is finally racing in the 2019 DTRA rookies championship. It used to be a 610 enduro bike but in owner Rupe’s hands (no relation) it’s been gradually converted to dirt track spec with 19in rims, Maxxis tyres and R6 forks. The one-off sub frame, tail and tank were built by Ian Davis at Etto Motorcycles near Nottingham. Exhaust is part Husky, part Nigel Parker of NRP Exhausts, which is in Bilsworth, Newark.

The ageing loom needed rebuilding in a simplified and more protected style, so I used MT and HM connector blocks for maximum resistance to grit and water. Both are completely sealed.

Owner Farnsworth was very pleased with the result: “A week after dropping the lifeless machine at Rupe’s Rewires I was advised ‘bike complete and ready for collection’ –  marvellous. I now have the bike back in workshop. It runs, charges, stops when I tell it to and, above all, displays small areas of perfectly formed loom, fittings and connections. The attention to detail in getting wires formed and shaped without strain or stress is very pleasing. Evidence of silicone grease inside the insulators is just the icing on the cake. So delighted I made the decision to get the re-wiring work done here. A joy from start to finish.”

As of May 2019 it had done three heats at Peterborough and it’s still going strong.
