This is surely a decent looking thing

Blue aftermarket reg reg. Yellow Motobatt battery. Silver HT coil and flasher unit. Pine coloured wooden battery packer to retain the battery

Central loom section keeps it simple under the tank. There’s not much space to do it any other way

David’s Triumph T160

When I was a kid in the 1970s a Trident T160 was almost as exotic as a Ducati 900 or a Laverda Jota – but a hell of a lot easier to live with.

David’s bike is better than any original T160 because it has Tri Spark ignition, a Motobatt battery and a regulator rectifier. All three combine to improve reliability, starting and performance. I hope the new loom helps too.

Some bikes I work on turn out to be in a bit of a state, and I have to have an awkward conversation with the customer. Not this bike. Apart from a slightly frayed choke cable and a little bit of oil under the engine, it’s nigh on perfect. It was a real pleasure to work on.

I tried in vain to find a space to fit a four way fuse box. Nothing doing, so it’s just the one fuse

David’s T160 is a really good example. Even when you strip everything off it, you can see it’s well built and very original
